With an investment of US$10 million, Multicare will open its first site in the country, generating 20 direct and 30 indirect jobs, and positioning itself as a key player in the provision of treatments for Orphan Diseases (HD), also known as rare diseases.
With a track record of more than 39 years in the Brazilian market, Multicare Pharma brings to Colombia its experience and an interdisciplinary team of experts that will work to improve the quality of life of people suffering from highly complex diseases. Silvio Ferrari Junior, CCO of the company, highlighted the firm's commitment to contribute to the health of Colombian patients, stating that “our experience in Brazil and the specialized team in Colombia will allow us to offer advanced and high-tech treatments to adequately meet the needs of patients with Orphan Diseases”.
The general manager of Multicare Pharma Colombia, Álvaro Rosales, emphasized that the expansion into Colombia responds to the need to facilitate access to innovative and high-tech treatments for patients with rare diseases. Currently, there are around 7,000 types of orphan diseases in the world, and Colombia stands out as a leader in the region, covering approximately 2,247 of them.
This project is part of Multicare's broader expansion plan for 2024 and 2025, which includes the opening of offices in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Panama and Central America. Multicare Pharma's arrival in Colombia underscores the country's potential as a key center for the development of advanced medical solutions, attracting foreign investment in a key sector such as healthcare.
With this $10 million investment, Multicare Pharmaceuticals not only contributes to the well-being of patients, but also strengthens the country's economy, creating jobs and increasing the competitiveness of the pharmaceutical sector.
The confidence of foreign companies such as Multicare in the Colombian market is a clear sign that Colombia continues to be an attractive and promising destination for foreign direct investment, especially in high-impact sectors such as healthcare.
