Programme promoting electric river transport in the Pacific region, electrifying homes and supporting local economies with clean energy.
Implement an energy supply program based on NCRE (Non-Conventional Renewable Energy Sources) to provide electricity to communities in Non-Interconnected Zones (NIZ) of the Pacific region, electrifying households and promoting electric river mobility.
River transport, although it represents a small share of national energy consumption (0.15%), is vital for the Pacific communities. This project addresses the need for sustainable transportation and energy access in Non-Interconnected Zones, transforming quality of life and strengthening local economies (fishing, tourism).
Environmental: Decarbonization of the river transport sector and electrification of communities with NCRE. Social: Community transformation, socio-environmental approach, capacity building, and strengthening of local economies. Governance: Long-term financial planning, promotion of public-private partnerships, strengthening of transparency, and fostering community participation.
