Colombia is making progress in preparations for the 122nd edition of the UN Tourism Executive Council, the most important tourism event in the world, which will take place in Cartagena from November 13 to 15, 2024. Under the leadership of the Vice Minister of Tourism, Arturo Bravo, an intense agenda of coordination with local authorities was carried out to ensure the success of this meeting, which will bring together 34 international delegations.

During his visit to Cartagena, Vice Minister Bravo met with representatives of the city's Secretariat of Tourism, the Heroica Group and the Cartagena de Indias Tourism Corporation to review progress in the organization of the event. Within the framework of the Executive Council, four simultaneous events will be held: the meeting with members affiliated with UN Tourism, the final of the Community Tourism Challenge, the Best Tourism Village gala and the Investment Forum.

The work agenda began with a meeting between the vice minister and the Cartagena Secretariat of Tourism, together with Corporturismo, to analyze the terms of the agreement to be signed between the Nation and the city, ensuring that Cartagena will shine as the venue for the event. Later, Bravo met with representatives of the hotel sector and local operators to address the challenges of hosting 900 visitors with a diplomatic profile.

Deputy Minister Bravo stressed that “Cartagena has all the infrastructure, the human quality and the disposition to offer the best UN Tourism meeting in history. This event will represent a great economic impact for the city and a new opportunity for the world to know that Colombia, the country of beauty, has all the capabilities to host this type of meeting”.
