This significant contribution, consisting of 101 pieces of medical equipment such as vital signs monitors, defibrillators and ultrasound scanners, is aimed primarily at strengthening the country's health system and improving the quality of medical care provided to citizens.
The delivery of this biomedical equipment marks the second phase of the cooperation project signed between Colombia and Japan. As a whole, this agreement seeks to strengthen the Colombian healthcare system by providing medical equipment to 20 hospitals located in 13 departments of the country.
In the first phase, carried out in March 2023, Colombia had already received medical equipment that benefited hospitals located in Bolívar, La Guajira, Norte de Santander, Arauca, Guainía, Putumayo and Nariño. Now, with the second phase, the 101 medical teams will be destined for hospitals in Guaviare, Córdoba, Sucre, Quindío, Caquetá, Guainía, Meta, Bolívar, Norte de Santander and Putumayo.
The Colombian Foreign Ministry expressed its deepest gratitude to the Ambassador of Japan, TAKASUGI MASAHIRO, as well as to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), for their selfless contribution and their firm commitment to the health and well-being of Colombians. This donation not only materializes the spirit of cooperation between nations to face the challenges of the 21st century, but also represents a significant step towards the achievement of the goals established in the 2030 Agenda.
