When asked about how the Single Window can contribute to this objective, Villota explained that one of the great challenges facing Colombia is the regulatory and bureaucratic complexity that affects both domestic and foreign investors. “We live daily the redundancy of rules and procedures that complicate the processes of company creation and investment expansion,” she said. This scenario has generated high transaction costs and limited legal certainty, which has slowed the flow of foreign capital into the country.
Villota stressed that the Single windows of investment, which have already been successfully implemented in other parts of the world, have the potential to transform this situation in Colombia. “We seek to map, simplify and optimize investment procedures, and digitize them through a single point. Thus, the investor will have direct access to the different entities involved, facilitating the process and making the country more attractive for investment,” she added.
This breakthrough was presented as part of the “VUI Transaccional Beta 0.9” event, a key phase in the implementation of the Single Window in Colombia. The platform promises to centralize and streamline investment procedures, offering investors a more efficient and transparent environment, which could strengthen Colombia's position as a competitive destination in the region.
The IDB provides financial and technical support to the “Program to Support the Diversification and Internationalization of the Colombian Economy” and will continue to support initiatives that promote economic development and the simplification of processes in Colombia, hoping that the One-Stop Investment Window will become a reference model for attracting foreign capital and fostering business growth in the country.
