Data Centers
Data Centers concentrate computing resources through high-powered hardware for the processing of an organization's information. Their purpose is to store, safeguard and process data on a large scale. These data are distributed to other systems or personnel authorized to consult and/or modify them. The importance of Data Centers lies in their ability to provide security and their capacity to store business information.
Colombia has made important investments in the construction of Data Centers that favor the growth of the country's technological offer. Its participation has increased in recent years, reaching approximately 9% of the market. Colombia has 11 submarine cables that support international connections, allow fast data transmission and secure connections. Currently, 98% of the municipalities in the country are connected to the world through fiber optics.
Colombia has the capacity to meet the high demand of the foreign market in data processing and storage for different sectors of services, manufacturing, agribusiness, infrastructure, among others.
*Please note: for specific information on each sub-sector, please refer to the Pre-operational Licenses and Infrastructure Construction procedures.
